What if my child’s permanent tooth is knocked out?
- Contact our office immediately and remain calm. Try to find the tooth, and rinse it gently with warm water. If possible, put the tooth in the socket by holding the crown part of the tooth. Do not touch the roots. If unable to hold the tooth in socket, place the tooth in a container with cold milk. The sooner we replant the tooth, the better the prognosis.
What if my child’s Baby tooth is knocked out?
- Contact our office immediately. Dr. Cima Mazar-Atabaki will evaulate your childs mouth to confirm that there is no damage to surrounding bone and gum tissue or adjacent teeth. We don’t replant baby teeth because of the potential damange to the permanent tooth.
What if my child has a toothache?
- There are many reasons causing a toothache. It could be a large single cavity, a chipped or cracked tooth, an abscessed (infected) tooth etc… Children’s Tylenol or Motrin can temporarily revlieve pain. Contact our office as soon as possible.
What if my child’s tooth is fractured or chipped?
- Contact our office immediately. If the fracture size is large and the nerve is exposed, we need to act as soon as possible. If your child’s lip was also injured, apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.
